What we are celebrating
This award celebrates projects which provide tangible benefits to addressing the climate emergency. This may be mitigation of climate change, for instance low-impact designs, specifications for reduced embodied carbon, afforestation strategies, or other approaches to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, for instance by encouraging sustainable transport. Or it may be adapting to expected climate changes, such as building resilience for sea-level rises, increased drought or extreme weather events, urban heat island (UHI) effects, etc.
This award is open to different types of landscape works, including (but not necessarily limited to):
- Assessment or research
- Planning document
- New process or intervention
- Design: concept/outline
- Design: detailed/technical
- Design implementation
- Management strategy
Judging criteria
This award will be scored by an independent panel of judges against our Judging Criteria:
- Sustainability
- Value
- Professionalism
- The relevant aspects of the Design criteria
In selecting an eventual winner, the judges will focus especially on the degree to which the entry:
- has evidence of the role of the LA in leading or influencing project to deliver measures to tackle climate change
- has evidence of a demonstrable effort towards (net) carbon neutrality and reduced carbon footprint
- has maximised adaptation and resilience to future climate changes, including increased temperatures and climate extremes showing resilience to associated risks

Limitations
To enter this Award:
- The work may be of any scale
- Part of the awarded activity must have taken place between July 2020 and July 2022
- The work may be a stand-alone project or form part of a larger project
